Ford Recalls 2022-2023 F-150 Lightning Vehicles Due to Battery Fire Risk
Ford is recalling 2022-2023 F-150 Lightning vehicles because loose battery fasteners may cause electrical arcing, increasing the risk of fire or loss of drive power.
What this means for you
Illness, injury, or structural failure has been reported. Stop using the product immediately and contact the manufacturer for a refund or repair.
Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a structural vehicle defect (loose high-voltage battery fasteners) that explicitly increases the risk of fire and crash, meeting the criteria for a Severe rating.
Plain-English summary
Ford Motor Company is recalling certain 2022 and 2023 F-150 Lightning vehicles. The recall addresses a defect where the fasteners securing the junction box bus bars inside the high-voltage battery pack may not have been tightened securely. This condition can cause electrical arcing at the busbars.
Electrical arcing increases the risk of a fire. Additionally, a loss of drive power may occur, which can increase the risk of a crash. This recall expands previous recall number 24V-144.
Dealers will inspect and repair the busbar fasteners and replace any damaged components as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on May 21, 2025. Owners may contact Ford Customer Service at 1-866-436-7332 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 888-327-4236.
