2024 Honda Civic Hatchback: Driver's Seat Fasteners May Not Be Properly Tightened
Honda and Acura are recalling certain 2023-2024 models including the Civic Hatchback, Accord, and Pilot. The driver's seat frame may not be properly tightened, risking inadequate restraint in a crash.
What this means for you
Illness, injury, or structural failure has been reported. Stop using the product immediately and contact the manufacturer for a refund or repair.
Our severity reasoning: This is a confirmed structural vehicle defect affecting a critical safety system (seat restraint). While no injuries have been reported, the real defect in seat fastening merits a Severe rating per the rubric for structural vehicle defects.
Plain-English summary
Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2023-2024 Honda Accord, Accord Hybrid, Civic Sedan, Civic Hatchback, Pilot, and 2024 HR-V, Acura Integra, and Acura Integra Type S vehicles. The driver's seat cushion frame may not have been tightened properly during manufacturing, which can result in an unsecured seat.
An unsecured driver's seat may not adequately restrain the driver during a crash, increasing the risk of injury. This defect violates Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 207, "Seating Systems."
The remedy is free. Dealers will replace the driver's seat cushion frame at no charge to the vehicle owner. Owner notification letters were mailed on January 6, 2025.
Owners can contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138 for more information or to schedule an appointment. For additional information, contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit nhtsa.gov.
