What this means for you
Illness, injury, or structural failure has been reported. Stop using the product immediately and contact the manufacturer for a refund or repair.
Our severity reasoning: This suspension defect affecting steering control is classified as a structural vehicle defect, meeting the criteria for Severe severity. While no injuries or deaths have been reported, a detached control arm would cause immediate loss of steering control, creating substantial risk of serious crashes.
Plain-English summary
Ford Motor Company is recalling certain 2024 and 2025 Ford Bronco vehicles, as well as 2024 Ford Ranger vehicles. The issue involves the front upper control arm ball joint fastener, which may not have been installed or tightened properly at the factory.
If the fastener is loose or missing, the front upper control arm can detach from the knuckle assembly. This detachment would cause a loss of vehicle steering and control, significantly increasing the risk of a crash.
Owners should contact Ford Customer Service at 1-866-436-7332 or visit their local Ford dealer. Dealers will inspect and verify that the ball joint fastener is properly tightened. If a fastener is found to be loose or missing, the dealer will replace the ball joint and knuckle assembly at no cost to the owner. Owner notification letters were mailed on November 20, 2024. For additional information, owners may contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit nhtsa.gov.
