Plain-English summary
Gulf States Toyota, Inc. is recalling certain 2023-2025 Toyota models, including the 2024 Tacoma Hybrid, equipped with aftermarket GST accessories. The load carrying capacity modification labels may display inaccurate added weight values, causing the vehicles to fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 110, which governs tire selection and wheel rims.
The affected vehicles total approximately 33,848 units. An incorrect maximum capacity weight value on the label may cause a vehicle to be loaded beyond its safe capacity, which can increase the risk of a crash.
Owner notification letters were mailed on September 16, 2024. Gulf States Toyota will mail replacement labels to owners at no charge. Owners should contact GST customer service at 1-800-444-1074 with questions. Additional information is available from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or at www.nhtsa.gov.
