Tiffin motorhomes recall: solar panel bracket may crack and detach

Tiffin Motorhomes is recalling 2023-2024 Convoy and GH-1 models because solar panel brackets may crack and break, causing panels to detach. A detached panel becomes a road hazard.

What this means for you

Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.

Our severity reasoning: The defect involves a structural vehicle component (solar panel mounting bracket) that can become a road hazard. However, no injuries or property damage have been reported, and the hazard is theoretical rather than realized, placing this at the high end of risk-of-harm recalls without reported incidents.

Plain-English summary

Tiffin Motorhomes, Inc. is recalling certain 2023 and 2024 Convoy motorhomes and 2023 and 2024 GH-1 motorhomes due to a defect in the solar panel mounting system. The bracket that secures the solar panel to the roof may crack and break.

When the bracket fails, the solar panel can detach from the vehicle. A detached solar panel becomes a road hazard that can increase the risk of a crash.

Approximately 67 vehicles are affected. Owners were notified by mail on February 21, 2024. Dealers will replace the brackets at no cost. Owners can contact Tiffin customer service at 1-256-356-8661 (recall number TIF-136) or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) for more information.
