Lion Electric is recalling 2021–2025 LionC school buses due to a defect in the high-voltage distribution unit (HVDU) and direct current junction box (DCJB) enclosures. Loose hardware inside these electrical components may contact electrical terminals and cause a short circuit.

If a short circuit occurs, the high-voltage circuit may shut down, resulting in loss of steering assistance or drive power and reduced braking power. These conditions significantly increase the risk of a crash.

The recall affects approximately 65 vehicles across model years 2021 through 2025 of the Lion LionC school bus. Lion technicians will replace the hardware free of charge. Owners were notified by mail on August 21, 2023.
