Kentucky Trailer Manufacturing is recalling certain 2021-2022 Kentucky Trailer XL-12 trailers equipped with specific Warn Winches that include a wireless handheld remote. The recall addresses a defect where water may enter the handheld remote control, leading to circuit board corrosion. This corrosion can allow the winch to operate unintentionally.
The unintentional operation of the winch increases the risk of injury to the vehicle operator or bystanders. The recall covers trailers manufactured in 2021 and 2022 that are fitted with the affected wireless remote components.
Owners will receive notification letters mailed on May 15, 2023. Kentucky Trailer Manufacturing will work with Warn Industries to provide instructions for inspecting the remote for corrosion and disabling the wireless function by removing the battery pack. If corrosion or water intrusion is found, owners should stop using the remote and contact Warn customer service for a free replacement. Once available, Warn will provide a replacement water-resistant remote free of charge.
