2022-2023 BMW IX and X1 driver airbag may fail to deploy in crash

What this means for you

Illness, injury, or structural failure has been reported. Stop using the product immediately and contact the manufacturer for a refund or repair.

Our severity reasoning: This recall involves a structural vehicle safety defect: a manufacturing flaw in the driver's front airbag that may prevent proper deployment during a crash. Although no injuries or deaths have been reported, this defect presents serious injury risk in crash situations, meeting the Score 4 (Severe) criterion of 'structural vehicle defect.'
