2022-2023 Newmar Motorhomes Recalled for Fuel Line Fire Risk
Newmar Corporation is recalling certain 2022-2023 motorhomes with International Thermal Research heaters due to incorrectly installed fuel lines that may leak and create a fire hazard.
What this means for you
Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.
Our severity reasoning: This recall involves a structural vehicle defect with potential for serious harm (fuel leak and fire risk), but no injuries or deaths have been reported. The hazard is potential rather than confirmed, placing it in the 'High' category for risk-of-harm products without reported injury.
Plain-English summary
Newmar Corporation is recalling certain 2022 and 2023 motorhomes from multiple model lines, including Super Star, Ventana, New Aire, Essex, Dutch Star, and Mountain Aire. These vehicles are equipped with International Thermal Research powered heaters that may have an incorrect fuel line installed.
The incorrect fuel line installation may allow fuel to leak. A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source can increase the risk of fire, creating a safety hazard for occupants.
The affected vehicles include approximately 92 motorhomes from the 2022 and 2023 model years. Owner notification letters were mailed on September 30, 2022.
Owners should contact their Newmar dealer to have the fuel line inspected and replaced free of charge. Owners may also contact Newmar's customer service at 1-800-731-8300 or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
