The recall is issued because the DOT certification symbol is missing from the tire sidewalls. As a result, these tires fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard numbers 109, "New Pneumatic and Certain Specialty Tires," and 139, "New Pneumatic Radial Tires for Light Vehicles." Tires missing this symbol may be used in inappropriate applications, which increases the risk of a crash.

Michelin will replace the tires with a debit card provided to owners to defray the cost of mounting and balancing, or offer a refund, free of charge. If necessary, certain recalled SKUs may be replaced with competitor tires of the same tire size. Owner notification letters were mailed on July 14, 2023.
