Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain Mopar Tire Air Pressure Sensors, part number 68487472AA. The recall is due to a defect where the sensor battery may fail prematurely, causing the sensor to become inoperative. As a result, these sensors fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 138, "Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems."

Inoperative TPMS sensors will not alert the driver to low tire pressure. Additionally, a TPMS warning light that is already illuminated from a failed battery sensor will mask an actual tire pressure failure issue. Either of these scenarios can result in tire failure and increase the risk of a crash.

Dealers will inspect and replace the affected TPMS sensors, as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed August 2, 2022. Owners may contact FCA US, LLC at 1-800-853-1403.
