Winnebago RV Models Recalled for Seat Belt Retractor Failure on Inclines
Winnebago is recalling certain 2021-2022 Solis, Travato, and Ekko models equipped with GE-ES Double Flipseats because seat belt retractors may lock when the vehicle is on a slight incline, creating risk that passengers may feel trapped.
What this means for you
Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.
Our severity reasoning: This recall involves a structural defect in seat belt mechanisms that violates Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards 208 and 209. The defect presents a risk-of-harm scenario where occupants may have difficulty exiting the vehicle due to seat belt retractor locking. However, no actual injuries or deaths have been reported, making this a theoretical hazard.
Plain-English summary
Winnebago Industries is recalling certain 2021-2022 Solis, Travato, and Ekko vehicles equipped with GE-ES Double Flipseats. The seat belt retractors may lock when the vehicle is on a slight incline. These seats fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards 208 (Occupant Crash Protection) and 209 (Seat Belt Assemblies).
If the seat belt retractor locks, a passenger may believe they are trapped in the vehicle, increasing the risk of injury.
