Great Dane Trailers is recalling certain 2018-2020 Great Dane Truck Bodies equipped with Maxon GPTLR and GPTWR Lift Gates with License Plate Bracket Light number 908120-01. The recall addresses a defect where the license plate light may aim rearward instead of towards the license plate. This configuration causes the vehicles to fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."
The misaligned light may aim toward other drivers, which may increase the risk of a crash. The recall began on January 11, 2021.
Great Dane will notify owners, and dealers will provide a corrective License Plate Kit with Light, as necessary, free of charge. Owners may contact Great Dane customer service at 1-877-369-3493 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
