Frazer Recalls 2019-2020 RAM Chassis Emergency Vehicles for Brake Line Wear
Frazer is recalling 2019-2020 emergency vehicles on RAM 4500 and 5500 chassis because rear brake lines may wear, causing brake failure and increasing crash risk.
What this means for you
Illness, injury, or structural failure has been reported. Stop using the product immediately and contact the manufacturer for a refund or repair.
Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a structural vehicle defect (brake line routing) that can result in a partial or complete loss of rear brakes, which aligns with the rubric criteria for a Severe (4) rating due to significant injury risk.
Plain-English summary
Frazer is recalling certain 2019-2020 emergency vehicles built on RAM 4500 and 5500 chassis. These vehicles are equipped with specific Compressible Liquid Adaptive Suspension Systems (C.L.A.S.S.) with part numbers DS135RS3A, DS135RS3AF, or DS135RS3-DM. The recall affects 76 vehicles.
The rear brake caliper flexible line may have been routed in a way that causes it to contact a suspension component. This contact can lead to excessive wear on the line, potentially causing brake fluid leakage and a partial or complete loss of rear brakes, which increases the risk of a crash.
Frazer will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the rear brake caliper flexible lines for wear. Dealers will install a kit to modify the line mounting and, if necessary, a kit to replace worn brake lines, free of charge. This recall is expected to begin June 1, 2020. Owners may contact Frazer customer service at 1-888-372-9371 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
