Keystone Recalls 2019 Summerland Trailers Due to Incorrect Tire Label

Keystone is recalling 2019 Summerland recreational trailers because the Federal Identification Label lists an incorrect tire rim size, which could lead to improper rim replacement.

What this means for you

Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.

Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a labeling error that creates a risk of harm (crash) due to potential incorrect rim replacement, but no injuries or fatalities have been reported, fitting the 'High' severity criteria for risk-of-harm products without reported injury.

Plain-English summary

Keystone RV Company is recalling certain 2019 Keystone Summerland recreational trailers, model 2020QB. The Federal Identification Label on these vehicles may indicate an incorrect tire rim size of 15X6, when the correct rim size is 15X5. As a result, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of 49 CFR Part 567, "Certification."

The incorrect rim designation on the label can cause the operator to replace the rim with an incorrect size, increasing the risk of a crash. This labeling error creates a safety risk by potentially leading to the use of incompatible tire components.

Keystone has notified owners, and dealers will replace the incorrect Federal label with a corrected label, free of charge. The recall began on July 11, 2018. Owners may contact Keystone customer service at 1-866-425-4369 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
