Freightliner MT45G and MT55G Recalled for Electrical Fire Risk

Daimler Trucks North America LLC (DTNA) is recalling certain 2018 Freightliner MT45G and MT55G custom chassis vehicles. The recall involves 584 vehicles built with specific uStart Ultra Capacitors.
The bracket that secures the capacitor to the battery tray may damage the capacitor, allowing water to enter. This can cause corrosion or an electrical short, which increases the risk of fire.
DTNA will notify owners, and dealers will remove the capacitors and replace them with an additional conventional battery free of charge. The recall began on April 13, 2018. Owners may contact DTNA customer service at 1-800-547-0712 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
