LuK GmbH & Co. KG is conducting a recall for certain hybrid propulsion systems. The defect involves Hydraulic Clutch Actuator (HCA) caps and assemblies that can allow oil to accumulate in the cap area. This accumulation can possibly result in an electrical short.

An electrical short can increase the risk of a fire. The recall is being conducted in coordination with Kia Motors America and Hyundai Motor America, who are inspecting and replacing the affected components.

Dealers for Kia and Hyundai will inspect the HCA caps for leaked oil and replace the HCA assembly if necessary, free of charge. Kia owners may contact customer service at 1-800-333-4542 (Recall SC163), and Hyundai owners may contact customer service at 1-855-371-9460 (Recall 176). The recall began on May 17, 2018.
