Bison Coach, LLC is recalling certain model year 2016-2018 Bison Horse Trailers, including the Laredo, Premiere, Ranger, Silverado, Trail Boss, and Trail Hand models. The recall affects 192 units that contain incorrect Gross Axle Weight Rating (GAWR) information on the Certification label. As a result, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of 49 CFR Part 567, "Certification."
The incorrect labeling creates a safety hazard because users may overload the trailer without realizing they have exceeded the safe weight limit. Overloading the trailer increases the risk of a crash.
Bison will notify owners and provide them with a corrected label free of charge. The recall began on June 14, 2017. Owners may contact Bison customer service at 1-574-658-4161 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236. Bison's number for this recall is 9011.
