BMW of North America, LLC is recalling certain 2014 X1 sDrive28i, X1 xDrive28i, and X1 xDrive35i vehicles. The recall involves a defect in the battery positive (B+) cables, which may develop high resistance in the connections to the fuse box.

This high resistance may result in the loss of the cable's electrical connection. Such a failure could cause the engine to stall and prevent the vehicle from restarting, thereby increasing the risk of a crash.

BMW will notify owners, and dealers will replace the B+ cable connector with a silver-coated version and better secure it to the fuse box at no charge. The recall began on April 3, 2017.
