ATC Recalls 2016-2017 Bumper Pull Toy Haulers Due to Fuel Tank Risk

Aluminum Trailer Company is recalling 2016-2017 Bumper Pull Toy Haulers because the fuel tank may detach, creating a fire risk.

What this means for you

Illness, injury, or structural failure has been reported. Stop using the product immediately and contact the manufacturer for a refund or repair.

Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a structural vehicle defect where the fuel tank may detach, leading to a fuel leak and increased risk of fire, which aligns with the criteria for a Severe rating.

Plain-English summary

Aluminum Trailer Company (ATC) is recalling certain model year 2016-2017 Bumper Pull seven or eight foot wide Toy Hauler trailers. These vehicles were manufactured between October 1, 2015, and October 31, 2016. The recall affects 46 units.

The fuel tank may have been attached to the subframe without rivnuts. As a result, the mounting bolts may loosen, causing the fuel tank to detach. If the fuel tank becomes loose and detaches from the vehicle, a fuel leak may result, increasing the risk of a fire.

ATC will notify owners, and dealers will replace the mounting bolts free of charge. The recall began on January 13, 2017. Owners may contact ATC customer service at 1-574-773-2440 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
