Grand Design Recalls 2015-2017 Reflection Trailers Due to Incorrect Weight Label
Grand Design is recalling 2015-2017 Reflection trailers because the Federal Certification Label lists an incorrect Gross Axle Weight Rating, which could lead to loss of vehicle control.
What this means for you
Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.
Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a risk-of-harm product where loading to the incorrect label weight can cause loss of vehicle control and increase crash risk, but no injuries or fatalities are reported in the source text.
Plain-English summary
Grand Design RV, LLC is recalling certain model year 2015-2017 Reflection recreational trailers, specifically models 357BHS and 367BHS, manufactured between November 12, 2014, and September 22, 2016. The recall involves 480 units.
The affected vehicles have an incorrect Gross Axle Weight Rating (GAWR) on the Federal Certification Label. The label states a GAWR of 7,000 lbs, but the actual GAWR is 6,400 lbs. This discrepancy means the vehicles fail to comply with 49 CFR Part 567, "Certification." If an operator loads the vehicle to the higher weight listed on the label, it can cause a loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash.
Grand Design will notify owners, and dealers will install a corrected Federal Certification Label free of charge. Owners may also choose to replace the label themselves at no cost. The recall began on October 28, 2016. Owners can contact Grand Design customer service at 1-574-825-9679 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
