Wabash Recalls 2015-2016 Con-Gear Converter Dolly Trailers for Frame Cracks

Wabash is recalling 2015-2016 Con-Gear Converter Dolly Trailers because frame cracks may cause the counterbalance leg to detach, creating a road hazard.

What this means for you

Illness, injury, or structural failure has been reported. Stop using the product immediately and contact the manufacturer for a refund or repair.

Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a structural vehicle defect (frame cracking) that may result in a component detaching and increasing the risk of a crash, which aligns with the 'Severe' criteria for structural defects.

Plain-English summary

Wabash National Corporation is recalling certain model year 2015-2016 Con-Gear Converter Dolly Trailers manufactured between March 31, 2014, and August 6, 2015. The recall involves 2,466 units. In the affected trailers, the frame may crack on the counterbalance leg weld seam or the top plate.

The cracks may progress and result in the counterbalance leg detaching while the trailer is being used. This detachment could cause the leg to become a road hazard, increasing the risk of a crash.

Wabash will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the dolly for cracks and add welds and weld plugs on the inboard side of the counterbalance legs. If welding will not resolve the issue, the dolly frame will be replaced. These repairs will be performed free of charge. The recall began on September 26, 2016. Owners may contact Wabash customer service at 1-765-771-5404 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
