Wabash National Refrigerated Van Trailers Recalled for Base Rail Detachment Risk
Wabash National Corporation is recalling certain 2024-2025 refrigerated van trailers because the base rails may not be bonded properly and can detach, reducing structural strength and increasing crash risk.
What this means for you
Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.
Our severity reasoning: This recall addresses a structural vehicle defect in the trailer's base rails that could potentially cause cargo shift and loss of control, increasing crash risk. However, no injuries, deaths, or actual detachment incidents have been reported, limiting the classification to High rather than Severe.
Plain-English summary
Wabash National Corporation is recalling certain 2024-2025 RFCVHSC refrigerated van trailers, as well as some 2023 model year units. The base rails may not be bonded properly, which can cause them to detach and reduce the structural strength of the trailer.
If the base rails detach, cargo may shift or fall, which can result in loss of trailer control and increase the risk of a crash.
Approximately 562 trailers are affected by this recall. Owner notification letters were mailed on August 12, 2024. Dealers will install an additional attachment plate free of charge.
