Plain-English summary

E-Ride Industries is recalling certain model year 2005-2016 EXV2 and EXV4 electric utility vehicles. The EXV2 units were manufactured between March 1, 2005, and July 29, 2016, while the EXV4 units were manufactured between March 3, 2005, and July 19, 2016. A total of 1,038 vehicles are affected by this recall.

The affected vehicles may not be equipped with a red reflector on the back of the vehicle. This defect causes the vehicles to fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 500, "Low Speed Vehicles." A missing red reflector can make the vehicle less visible to other drivers, which increases the risk of a crash.

E-Ride will notify owners, and dealers will install a red reflector to both corners of the rear bumper free of charge. The recall was expected to begin in September 2016. Owners may contact E-Ride customer service at 1-800-950-4351 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
