Glaval Bus Transit Models Recalled for Emergency Exit Label Placement

Forest River is recalling 2008-2016 Glaval Bus transit models because rear emergency exit labels are not placed within 16 centimeters of release mechanisms, potentially hindering quick escape.

What this means for you

Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.

Our severity reasoning: The recall addresses a structural vehicle defect involving emergency egress compliance where injury has not yet been reported, fitting the 'High' severity criteria for risk-of-harm products.

Plain-English summary

Forest River, Inc. is recalling certain 2008-2016 Glaval Bus Apollo, Concorde II, Entourage, Legacy, Primetime, Sport, Titan, Titan II, and Titan II Low Floor transit buses manufactured from August 1, 2008, through March 6, 2016. The recall involves 1,860 vehicles.

The rear emergency exit window labels on these vehicles are not located within 16 centimeters of the release mechanisms as required by Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 217. This non-compliance may hinder an occupant's ability to open the emergency window and escape from the vehicle quickly in the event of an emergency.

Forest River will notify owners and provide a new label along with instructions for correct placement on the window at no charge. The recall began on June 9, 2016. Owners may contact Glaval Bus customer service at 1-574-642-3112 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
