Soaring Helmet Corporation is recalling certain Stealth Phantom motorcycle helmets, part numbers 8300 and 8351, in sizes extra small through XXL. The affected units were manufactured between April 1, 2013, and December 30, 2014, and are available in all graphics.
The recall is issued because these helmets may not adequately protect the wearer from penetration injuries in the event of a crash. Consequently, the helmets fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 218, "Motorcycle Helmets."
Since the specific purchasers of the helmets are unknown, Soaring placed a notification on the Stealth website on May 4, 2016. Retailers will exchange the affected helmets for a different Stealth helmet or offer a refund, free of charge.
