Mack Trucks Recall 2010-2016 Models for Turbocharger Oil Leak Fire Risk

Mack is recalling 2,571 trucks from 2010-2016 because a turbocharger oil line may leak near the exhaust, increasing fire risk.

What this means for you

Illness, injury, or structural failure has been reported. Stop using the product immediately and contact the manufacturer for a refund or repair.

Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a structural vehicle defect (engine component interference) that creates an increased risk of fire, which aligns with the 'Severe' criteria for significant injury/property-damage reports or structural defects.

Plain-English summary

Mack Trucks, Inc. is recalling certain model year 2010-2016 Granite (GU), LR, and TerraPro (LEU, MRU) trucks. These vehicles were manufactured between November 17, 2009, and October 17, 2015. The recall affects a total of 2,571 units.

The defect involves the turbocharger oil supply line, which may contact or interfere with the turbocharger inlet elbow, clean air intake clamp, or air fuel control tube. This interference can result in an oil leak. If oil leaks in the proximity of the engine exhaust manifold, there is an increased risk of a fire.

Cummins will notify owners on behalf of Mack. Dealers will inspect for oil supply line interference or damage, eliminate the interference, and replace the oil supply line as necessary, free of charge. The recall was expected to begin on November 30, 2015. Owners may contact Cummins at 1-800-343-7357 or Mack customer service at 1-800-866-1177.
