Plain-English summary
Winnebago Industries, Inc. is recalling certain model year 2015-2016 Winnebago Brave, Sightseer, Vista, and Adventurer motorhomes, as well as Itasca Tribute, Sunova, Sunstar, and Suncruiser motorhomes. These vehicles were manufactured between July 13, 2015, and October 6, 2015, and are built on Ford chassis.
The recall addresses a defect involving an incorrect shift cable bracket and improper shift cable adjustment. This issue allows the vehicles to be shifted out of 'PARK' without the driver applying the brakes. If the vehicle is shifted into reverse without the brakes being applied, it may unintentionally move, which increases the risk of a crash.
Ford will notify owners, and Ford dealers will replace the transmission shift control bracket and adjust the transmission shift cable free of charge. The recall began on November 12, 2015. Owners may contact Winnebago customer service at 1-641-585-3535 or Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Owners may also contact the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 or visit www.safercar.gov.
