The defect involves the door latches, which may cause the doors to unlatch unexpectedly while the vehicle is in operation. If a door unlatches, the resulting distraction may increase the risk of a crash. Additionally, a vehicle occupant who is not wearing a seatbelt may fall out of the vehicle, increasing their risk of injury.
