Accubuilt, Inc. is recalling certain model year 1998-2005 Lincoln Town Car 120-inch limousines manufactured by DaBryan Coachbuilders between January 2, 1998, and July 21, 2005. The recall affects 970 vehicles.

In certain situations, such as when the vehicle is overloaded or if the rear suspension fails, the driveshaft may rub against the vehicle body below the rear seating area. This rubbing can generate significant heat, which increases the risk of a fire.

Owners were mailed interim notifications on July 15, 2015, and the recall began on February 23, 2016. Accubuilt will supply a remedy kit to replace the current joint component mounted on the rear axle. For eligible vehicles built after September 1, 2004, Accubuilt will reimburse up to 1 hour of labor.
