Plain-English summary
Autocar, LLC is recalling certain model year 2011-2016 Xpeditor vehicles manufactured between October 12, 2010, and May 4, 2015. The recall affects vehicles equipped with a specific synchronization valve (part number A7660006-001) and specific cab configurations where the park brake button is located to the right of the right-hand drive steering wheel. These configurations include RH Drive, dual drive/dual sit, and dual drive/RH stand.
The defect involves the parking brake system. If an operator attempts to release the parking brake without first firmly applying the service brake, the parking brake may subsequently engage at any speed. This unexpected engagement can occur unexpectedly to the operator and increases the risk of a crash.
Autocar will notify owners, and dealers will replace the synchronization valve with one that has a lower opening pressure, free of charge. The recall began on July 8, 2015. Owners may contact Autocar customer service at 1-765-489-5499 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
