Cruiser RV Viewfinder Trailers Recalled for Propane Compartment Seal Defect

Cruiser RV is recalling 2015 Viewfinder trailers because the propane compartment is not properly sealed, creating a fire risk if gas leaks into the interior.

What this means for you

Illness, injury, or structural failure has been reported. Stop using the product immediately and contact the manufacturer for a refund or repair.

Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a structural defect in a recreational vehicle that creates a significant fire hazard due to potential propane gas leaks into the living area, meeting the criteria for significant injury/property-damage reports or structural vehicle defects.

Plain-English summary

Cruiser RV is recalling certain model year 2015 Viewfinder recreational trailers manufactured between September 4, 2014, and March 30, 2015. The recall involves 46 units where the liquid propane (LP) compartment located in the slide room is not properly sealed to the interior of the trailer.

If a leak occurs in the LP compartment, propane gas could dissipate into the interior of the trailer. This condition increases the risk of a fire in the presence of an ignition source.

Cruiser will notify owners, and dealers will modify the recreational trailer to ensure the LP compartment is sealed from the passenger area, free of charge. The recall began on May 14, 2015. Owners may contact Cruiser customer service at 1-866-277-5630 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
