Plain-English summary
Dannmar Equipment is recalling certain MaxJax Portable Two-Post automatic car lift systems, part number 17152001, sold between September 2, 2014, and January 15, 2015. The affected units may have lower carriage plates that are insufficiently welded to the inside of the carriage.
If the lower carriage plates are not properly welded, they may not be able to hold the rated weight while lifting a vehicle. As a result, the lift arms may snap and the vehicle could fall from the lift, increasing the risk of personal injury.
Dannmar has begun notifying owners and will supply replacement carriages free of charge. The recall began on March 18, 2015. Owners may contact Dannmar customer service at 1-877-432-6627 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
