Forest River, Inc. is recalling certain model year 2015 Salem and Wildwood ice house fishing cabin trailers. The affected units were manufactured between September 22, 2014, and October 23, 2014. Specific models include the Salem 8X16FK, 8X18RB, 8X20RD, 8X20RC, 8X20SV, 8X21RV, 8X22RDV, and 8X22RHV, as well as the Wildwood 8X16FK, 8X18RB, 8X20RD, 8X20RC, 8X20SV, 8X21RV, 8X22RDV, and 8X22RHV.
The recall addresses a defect in the rear suspension where frame spring hangers may be brittle and susceptible to fracturing. If a spring hanger fractures, it may result in a loss of control of the trailer, which increases the risk of a crash.
Forest River has notified dealers to quarantine the affected trailers. Dealers will install a spring hanger reinforcement kit free of charge. The recall began in late October 2014.
