Plain-English summary

Vanair Manufacturing, Inc. is recalling certain model year 2009-2013 Ford F-350, F-450, and F-550 Super Duty chassis that were modified by Vanair. These vehicles are equipped with specific Muncie Power Products PTO Assemblies used with model 60-85 UDSM, 125-185 USDM, and Genair 125-185 driven air compressor systems.

The recall is necessary because oil may leak from the PTO pressure switch onto a thermal blanket covering the exhaust system. When the leaking oil soaks into the thermal blanket and is exposed to heat from the exhaust, it may result in an increased risk of fire.

Vanair will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the vehicles and install a new pressure switch kit that moves the switch away from the exhaust system, free of charge. The recall began in November 2014. Owners may contact Vanair customer service at 1-800-526-8817 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
