Forest River Recalls 2014 Vibe Travel Trailers for Incorrect Certification Labels
Forest River is recalling 164 model year 2014 Vibe travel trailers because the Federal Certification Label lists incorrect tire and weight information, which could lead to overloading and tire failure.
What this means for you
Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.
Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a risk-of-harm product (incorrect weight labels leading to potential tire failure and crash) where injury has not yet been reported, fitting the High severity criteria.
Plain-English summary
Forest River, Inc. is recalling certain model year 2014 Vibe VCT6501, VCT6502, VCT6503, VCT6504, VCT6505, and VCT6506 travel trailers. These vehicles were manufactured between July 30, 2013, and April 4, 2014. The recall affects 164 units.
The Federal Certification Label on these vehicles contains incorrect tire and gross axle weight rating information. This non-conformity to Part 567, "Certification," means the label does not accurately reflect the vehicle's specifications. If the information printed on the label is incorrect, it may lead to the recreational vehicle being overloaded, resulting in tire failure which would increase the risk of a crash.
Forest River will notify owners and send them replacement Federal Certification and Tire Information labels with the correct information, free of charge. The recall began on June 9, 2014. Owners may contact Forest River Customer Service at 1-260-593-0023 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
