Ford Motor Company is recalling certain model year 2013 Escape vehicles manufactured between October 5, 2011, and June 2, 2013, that are equipped with 1.6L engines. The recall covers approximately 139,917 vehicles.
The affected vehicles may experience localized overheating of the engine cylinder head, which can cause cracks that allow oil to leak. Leaking engine oil may come into contact with hot engine surfaces, potentially resulting in an engine compartment fire. This recall is in addition to NHTSA recall 12V-551, and all covered vehicles require inspection and remedy for this campaign regardless of prior repairs.
Ford will notify owners, and dealers will modify the engine shielding, cooling, and control systems free of charge.
