Seagrave Recalls Marauder II Pumper Vehicles Due to Brake Fire Risk
Seagrave is recalling 2011-2012 Marauder II pumper emergency vehicles because brake chambers may leak, causing the parking brake to drag and potentially leading to a fire.
What this means for you
Illness, injury, or structural failure has been reported. Stop using the product immediately and contact the manufacturer for a refund or repair.
Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a structural vehicle defect (brake system failure) that explicitly states overheated components could result in a fire, meeting the criteria for significant injury/property-damage reports or structural defects.
Plain-English summary
Seagrave Fire Apparatus, LLC is recalling certain model year 2011 and 2012 Marauder II pumper emergency vehicles. The affected models include TB70CM, TB50CL, TB40CL, TB70CX, TB70CL, and TB70CO, manufactured between November 23, 2010, and October 22, 2012. These vehicles are equipped with Meritor axle assemblies featuring disc brakes and MGM J24 series air brake chambers.
The defect involves the brake chambers potentially leaking pressure, which allows the parking brake to drag when it is supposed to be released. This dragging can cause the brake components to overheat. Overheated brake components could result in a fire.
Seagrave will notify owners, and the actuators will be replaced as needed, free of charge. The safety recall began on April 23, 2013. Owners may contact Seagrave's OnTrac Customer service center at 1-866-668-7221 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
