What this means for you

Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a risk-of-harm product where injury has not yet been reported, fitting the High severity criteria for potential injury during emergency egress.

Plain-English summary

Airstream, Inc. is recalling certain Fiamma-brand Flying Cloud and International model number 209397 accessory bicycle racks. These units were distributed by Airstream from January 2012 through December 2013.

When installed as designed and loaded with bicycles, the rack may partially block the secondary emergency exit located in the rear of the trailer. This partial blockage could hinder egress from the trailer during an emergency, increasing the risk of injury to passengers.

Airstream will notify owners and supply two new warning labels: one for the bike rack and one for inside the trailer near the rear secondary exit. These labels will include installation instructions. The recall began on January 17, 2014. Customers may contact Airstream at 1-937-538-1268 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
