In these units, the charger plug pin connectors may overheat, which can melt the thermoplastic casing around the pins. This overheating may cause damage to the car's inlet or the charging station plug. Additionally, direct contact with the overheated casing presents a danger of burns to the user.
Schneider Electric will notify owners, and a representative or trained electrical contractor will install a new cord-set free of charge. Owner notification began in April 2013. Owners may contact Schneider Electric at 1-877-283-7647 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
