Plain-English summary
Van Hool N.V. is recalling certain model year 2012 TD925 motorcoaches manufactured between October 2011 and July 2012. These vehicles are equipped with a Cummins ISX engine and a Fuel Pro fuel filter located behind the left tag axle tire. A total of 136 vehicles are affected by this recall.
The defect involves the potential for debris from a left tag axle tire blowout to damage the Fuel Pro fuel filter compartment base plate. Damage to this base plate may lead to a fuel leak inside the engine compartment. In the presence of an ignition source, this fuel leak may result in a vehicle fire.
Van Hool, through their US agent ABC Bus, Inc., will notify owners. Dealers will install a thicker base plate to protect the fuel filter at no charge. The safety recall began on December 13, 2012. Owners may contact ABC Bus, Inc. toll-free at 1-877-427-7278 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
