The defect is caused by an incorrect assembly tolerance that allows the Uniball bearing on the damper rod eyelet to slip out of its seat on the Ohlins steering damper. This can cause the steering damper to detach from its mounting point, leading to a loss of control of the motorcycle and increasing the risk of a crash.
