These axles were manufactured in lots QR494320 and QR493997 between January 24, 2012, and February 17, 2012. The affected axles were installed on certain trailers manufactured by Carry-On Trailers, Inc., as part number 2K7158.

The defect involves a weld between the axle tube and the spindle that may fail under stress over time. If the axle spindle fails, the trailer wheel could separate, which increases the risk of a crash.
