What this means for you
Minor labeling or packaging issue, or a voluntary precautionary recall. Risk of harm is low but real — follow the manufacturer's instructions.
Our severity reasoning: The recall is classified as Moderate because it involves a labeling error that creates a risk of tire failure and property damage, but no injuries or deaths are reported in the source text.
Plain-English summary
Keystone RV Company is recalling certain model year 2007-2009 Cougar fifth wheel trailers manufactured between May 12, 2006, and February 12, 2009. The recall addresses incorrect information on the Federal Identification Tag and Tire and Loading Information Label. These vehicles fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard Part 567, "Certification."
The defect involves a label that lists the maximum tire pressure as 80 PSI instead of the correct maximum pressure of 65 PSI. Overinflating tires based on this incorrect information increases the risk of tire failure and property damage.
Keystone will mail corrected labels to consumers, or customers may have dealers install the labels free of charge. The safety recall began on February 19, 2012. Owners may contact Keystone Customer Service at 1-866-425-4369 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
