Morgan Penske Parcel Van Recall for Structural Bracket Failure

Morgan Trailer Manufacturing is recalling 2010 Penske vehicles because Z mounting brackets may bend or break, potentially causing the van body to lower onto the chassis.

What this means for you

Illness, injury, or structural failure has been reported. Stop using the product immediately and contact the manufacturer for a refund or repair.

Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a structural vehicle defect (frame and members) where bracket failure could cause the van body to detach or interfere with the fuel line, increasing the risk of a crash.

Plain-English summary

Morgan Trailer Manufacturing is recalling certain model year 2010 Morgan Penske vehicles. The recall involves 729 units where the "Z" mounting brackets, which support the van body above the chassis, are subject to bending and, in extreme cases, breaking.

If multiple "Z" mounting brackets break, the parcel van body may lower onto the chassis frame rail. This contact may cause interference between the walk ramp and the fuel line, or the body may pull away from the chassis cab. Severe overloading could cause the brackets to break, increasing the risk of a crash.

Dealers will replace all of the "Z" mounting brackets free of charge. The safety recall began in May 2010. Owners may contact Morgan at 1-610-286-2223 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
