KZRV Recalls Towing Trailers With Fire-Prone Norcold Refrigerators

The refrigerators are equipped with a sensing algorithm or thermal switch designed to shut off power when high temperatures are detected, which helps prevent potential fires. However, the response times of these devices are not sufficient to stop power in time to prevent a fire if a hydrogen gas leak occurs. This defect poses a risk of fire to the vehicle and its occupants.

KZRV is working with Norcold to identify and notify affected owners. Owners will be instructed to contact Norcold dealers to receive the remedy free of charge. The safety recall began on March 3, 2011. Owners may also contact Norcold at 1-800-767-9101 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
