Navistar Recalls 85 Recreational Vehicles Due to Refrigerator Fire Risk

The recall addresses a defect in the refrigerators' safety systems. These units contain a sensing algorithm or thermal switch designed to shut off power when high temperatures are detected, which helps prevent potential fires from hydrogen gas leaks. However, the response times of these devices are not sufficient to stop power in time to prevent a fire.
Owners will be instructed to contact Norcold dealers to receive the remedy free of charge. Navistar is working with Norcold to identify and notify affected owners. The safety recall began on December 1, 2010. Owners may also contact Norcold at 1-800-767-9101 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
