Dutchmen Grand Junction Fifth Wheel Travel Trailer Axle Recall
Dutchmen is recalling 2006-2007 Grand Junction fifth wheel travel trailers due to mis-located axle welds that could cause wheel separation.
What this means for you
Illness, injury, or structural failure has been reported. Stop using the product immediately and contact the manufacturer for a refund or repair.
Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a structural vehicle defect (axle spindle separation) where the source text explicitly states the hazard risks injury or death and significant property damage, meeting the criteria for a Severe rating.
Plain-English summary
Dutchmen Manufacturing, Inc. is recalling certain model year 2006-2007 Grand Junction fifth wheel travel trailers manufactured between April 27, 2006, and May 2, 2006. These vehicles are equipped with Lippert axle components and may contain mis-located welds attaching the axle spindle to the axle tube.
If the welds are mis-located, the spindle may partially or completely separate from the axle tube, causing the wheel and hub assembly to come off the vehicle. A separated tire and wheel assembly could strike other vehicles or pedestrians, risking injury or death, and/or cause significant property damage.
Dutchmen is working with Lippert to inspect and replace any defective axles free of charge. The safety recall began on September 20, 2010. Owners may contact Lippert Components, Inc.'s Axle Service & Warranty Department at 1-877-870-4900 or the Dutchmen Warranty Service Department at 866-869-1109.
