What this means for you
Illness, injury, or structural failure has been reported. Stop using the product immediately and contact the manufacturer for a refund or repair.
Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a structural vehicle defect where the load may slide off the trailer, increasing the risk of a crash, which aligns with the rubric criteria for a Severe (4) rating.
Plain-English summary
Bombardier Recreational Products Inc. (BRP) is recalling certain model year 2010 Sea-Doo Advanced Tec trailers manufactured between December 10, 2009, and March 22, 2010. The recall involves 1,131 units where the latching mechanism, known as iCATCH, may be misadjusted and fail to properly secure the front end of the personal watercraft being transported.
If the latching mechanism is not secure, road oscillations may cause the personal watercraft to jump out of the iCATCH hook. If the rear latching straps are also not used to properly secure the back end of the watercraft, the vehicle may slide off the trailer, increasing the risk of a crash.
Dealers will install a safety cable on the front latch mechanism, affix an updated label on the trailer, and provide the owner with an updated user guide at no charge. The safety recall was expected to begin on or before June 15, 2010. Owners may contact BRP at 1-888-638-5397 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
