Plain-English summary
Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2010 model year Acura MDX vehicles manufactured between October 7, 2009, and November 14, 2009. The recall addresses a manufacturing defect where a bolt used to attach an interior trim piece to the driver's or passenger's side A-pillar may not have been installed.
If a crash results in the deployment of the side curtain air bag, the unsecured trim piece may not remain properly attached to the A-pillar. This condition increases the risk of injury to the driver and/or front seat passenger.
Dealers will inspect the interior trim piece of the A-pillar and install the missing bolt free of charge if necessary. The source notes that four vehicles were purchased before a stop-sale was issued, and all of these vehicles have been inspected and repaired if needed. Owners may also contact the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 or visit safercar.gov.
